Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service Community Awareness Event

Pride Park

Sunday 8th August 2010, 10:30-16:30 hours

Awareness Day Pride ParkDFRS hosted an event in the Pedigree suite of the Derby County Football Ground. The purpose of the event was to enable the diverse communities of within Derbyshire to find out more about the various aspects of Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service’s work, service provision and to promote DFRS as an employer of choice.

It was a great honour for the Asian Fire Service Association to be asked to staff a stand at this event to both help with the community awareness at DFRS and to raise the profile of AFSA. The event was well attended with people attending from a diverse range of communities both in and around Derbyshire. The AFSA stand was staffed by Diane Dunlevy (AFSA Charities Co-ordinator, Staffordshire FRS) and Nina Kang (AFSA General Secretary, Derbyshire FRS).

The event was an ideal opportunity for both attracting the Asian community towards a career in the Fire Service and for networking with existing Fire and Rescue Service staff to raise awareness of AFSA and it’s values.
